Made us book online although showed front desk the price on their website. Would not match rate. Staff did not know restaurant/ bar hours so closed when we arrived. Oh also, they charge 20% more for valet unless you stand there and book it online while you’re waiting to valet your car. LOL

The hotel was very nice and clean with good common areas. In a good location if you are there for the university. We did not appreciate the valet only option, and that the valet gave our car to another couple! We are simply lucky that the couple wasn't checking out and brought the car back. When we brought this up with the front desk, they stated that the valet service is a separate company so they would not do anything about it, despite the fact that we are paying the fee of $36 a day to the hotel. The wi-fi was also very spotty, and we were surprised that breakfast was not included for the price of the room per night.

The Lumen is the perfect hotel to stay while we visited the SMU campus, it's 8 minutes walk from the hotel to SMU right across the street, located in a very upscale and safe neighborhood. The room is very spacious, clean and comfortable. There is a Seven-Eleven next door, a 3 minute walk from the hotel. The Dallas Love Field Airport is about 15 minutes away if driving. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return for future visits.

We have stayed at The Lumen several times a year over the past 4 years, as our son is an SMU student. The hotel is right across the street from campus, so you can easily walk there or grab one of the free bikes from the hotel lobby and cruise around campus. The bar in the attached Front Room is a great place to grab a drink before or after dinner and the employees there are super friendly and capable. There is a nice pool to sit by or swim in if you have some down time. My only "complaint" is that there is no in room coffee for that first mug, but there is free coffee in the lobby starting at 5:00am and a coffee bar in the Front Room so you really can't call this a downside. All in all, this place is great. It is not as luxurious as other properties we have stayed at in Dallas (but these are substanitally higher-priced), but for the price, it cannot be beat.

This is not better than a Holiday Inn Express...but more expensive. Had to ask twice for a coffee machine and cups. The only positive is the proximity to SMU and the Park Cities. The lobby and restaurant were fine and a nice place to meet. But, the rooms were really pretty bad.
